Auxiliary NPCs

About Auxiliary Characters and NPCs
Auxiliary exist in two forms:

The first are simply Auxiliary Characters: extremely minor characters who require castmate permission to exist, due to relationships with existing canon characters that involve large amount of headcanon. These characters must exist in canon, but may lack an actual canon appearance, such as a named relative. Unlike typical auxiliary characters, these characters are treated like normal appable characters, and will not be included on this page! Please see the FAQ for more information about how these characters work!

The second are Auxiliary-NPC: essentially player controlled npcs. They exist only for the purpose of facilitating cr between player characters, making characters more comfortable in the setting, one-time player plots, etc. You don't need to post here to have them in the game, as they do not require approval!

The rest of this page applies only to Auxiliary-NPCs!

Auxiliary-NPCs can include:

  • Animal/artificial companion characters, from canon or CRAU games
  • Named, or unnamed but explicitly mentioned, family members or friends
  • Player-created people from the same world
  • Minor characters who are unlikely to be apped
  • Any characters from the same universe as an original character

Auxiliary-NPCs do not count towards the five character limit and are not subject to activity checks. You do not need to create an account specifically for them, nor are you required to actively play them. Auxiliary-NPCs must be connected to your character in some way, but are not required to disappear upon dropping.

For example, let's look at a player playing Ash from Pokemon:

  • Pikachu is an auxiliary-npc, because he is a companion character. He appears frequently in threads, as not having him would cause Ash distress in the game.

  • Trainer Joey is an auxiliary-npc created by Ash's player. He shows up in a thread where Ash is showing his roommate what a pokemon battle looks like.

  • Brock is not an auxiliary-npc, because he's a major character in the series.

  • Ash's mother is an auxiliary-npc, because she's a minor character who is unlikely to ever be apped. When another player decides to app her, they takes over as playing her under the assumption she's been in the game the whole time, with Ash's player's permission.

  • Ash's father is not an auxiliary-npc, because he's not explicitly mentioned in the series, even if he theoretically exists.

  • When Ash drops, Misty is allowed to keep Pikachu.

Auxiliary-NPCs do not need to be approved or applied for in any way, but if you would like their presence acknowledged in game or would like to use an alternate account for icons, feel free to fill out the form below, and join the game comms with the indicated account.

Current Auxiliary-NPCs

Birb | Final Fantasy XV
Birb is a chocobo! Prompto's chocobo, to be exact. On loan from Wiz and his Chocobo Farm but somehow pulled through time and space to be here with her favourite person! She is a sweet and playful bird who enjoys playing with hair, especially blond hair. She tends to treat Prompto like her own little chick, very protective of him. Unless told otherwise, she'll follow him wherever he goes

Fou (Cath Palug)| Fate/Grand Order
Tiny cute cat squirrel creature. True name 'Cath Palug' but usually called 'Fou' due to the noise he makes. Mostly incapable of speech beyond 'Fou' and - for some reason - 'die Merlin' but completely capable of understanding speech, and highly intelligent. Was once a beast of humanity destined to kill all humans, but chose to expend all of his magical energy and potential for the sake of saving someone who loved him. Very shy, usually interacts only with Ritsuka (or Mashu when she's there) unless you've really earned his trust or his ire.

Grani | Final Fantasy XIV
A summoned mount created by Emet-Selch to allow him to ride through the heavens. It is an ornery creature (much like the man himself) and will only accept or answer to riders who meet its approval.

Grimoire Weiss| NieR: Replicant v. 1.22...
Grimoire Weiss is a floating tome that accompanies Nier throughout the game and gives him the access to his magic. He finds him as a teen and the book becomes his constant companion. In the lore Grimoire Weiss was originally a human who fought the Legion and was put in a situation where he became the book. He definitely acts and sounds pompous but is good hearted... for a book.

Solis Lucis Caelum | Final Fantasy XV
This is Noctis's chocobo that he rides throughout the game via the rent-a-chocobo service at Wiz's Chocobo Post. He sports four medals pinned to his gear that Noctis has won through chocobo racing, the national sport of Lucis. He's extremely protective of Noctis and will defend him if he and his friends are attacked by anything (monsters, etc.). Noctis can summon the bird via whistle wherever he is.

Tockles | Dragon Quest XI
Cute, harmless little spirits that manage the flow of time in the world of Erdrea. Attracted by the time loop shenanigans, some of them got pulled along for the ride when Sylvando came to Nippon. Normally invisible and intangible to basically everyone, those who can normally perceive invisible spirits may be able to see them, though they'll vanish if the person gets too close. Only once Sylv's kizuna magic is activated will he and those bonded to him be able to see and interact with them properly. Human-Tockle pic for scale

Tyrann| NieR: Replicant v. 1.22...
Tyrann is a character in NieR RepliCant. He is the Shade inhabiting Kainé's body. The drama CD also revealed that Tyrann was once called Yura Masayoshi. When individuals were being turned into Gestalts, Yura (Tyrann's human name) managed to join the ranks by changing his name to Tyrann. When the military figured out his scheme, they had Yura's Replicant destroyed. Unable to return to his proper body because of this, Tyrann spent the next thousand years invading other people's Replicants and using them until he destroyed them. He also fed his bloodthirst and need for control and power by slaughtering Shades. Eventually he was led him to Kainé. When he was unable to convince the woman to give her body over to him, he instead made a deal with her. As long as she kept hating and killing things, he would simply reside within her heart and offer his help as she fought. If she showed a moment of weakness however, he would take her over completely.
