Bonus Items

Bonus!!!!!

Because there's no conventional activity check in Jikan, every player just earns one Bonus Item per month. These are completely optional. ICly, these items are either purchased, gifted by scientists or native Nippon-jin, found lying around somewhere, or outright stolen.

Bonus AC can be submitted at any time during the month, and will be processed before the 1st of the following month. You may use your item the moment it is processed.

There are two options for deciding what kind of bonus you receive:

Normal Bonus AC
Comment with the current month in the subject and link up to five threads to receive an item from the equivalent tier. For example, if you want to choose a 5-Star item, you must submit 5 threads. If you want a 3-Star item, you must submit three threads. You do not need to submit extra threads beyond that amount!

Each thread must have at least 3 comments from you in the current month. You can reuse the same thread as many times as you like, as long as there are three recent comments from you on the thread. Threads can come from anywhere related to the game: logs, network, TDM, or inbox. If including the top-level as one of the comments, please specify.

Gacha Bonus AC
For those who are indecisive or otherwise addicted to gacha games, all you need to do is leave a comment down below with the current month in the subject, and RNG will decide your fate! A number will be rolled to determine which items you can receive, based on a probability system outlined below. You may choose an item from the tier you roll or lower. For example, if you roll a 3-star item, you can pick a 3-Star, 2-Star, or 1-Star item.

Please note that once you have received your result, you will not be allowed to switch to Normal AC for the same month, so keep this in mind when selecting this option!

For 4-Star and 5-Star items, make sure to reply with which item you are selecting!

Please note that the inclusion of small story blurbs for 4 and 5 star items is dependent upon how busy I am at a given time, and may or may not be included with each reward.

1-Star ☆ 100% chance
These items can also just be found in the setting if your character saves up the money for them. You do not need to say which item you are choosing.
★A bicycle.

★A high-quality weapon.
★A simple magi-tech weapon, capable of shocking or stunning opponents for a few seconds. May break after a few uses.
★A special salve that instantly heals minor cuts and scrapes.
★A small charm that wards off certain types of harmful ayakashi. Not very effective.
★A VCR to watch movies at home. It even has a rewind feature! The future is now.
★A moderate sum of money.

2-Star ☆☆ 70% chance
These items can only be received through monthly bonuses, but are fairly mundane. You do not need to say which item you are choosing.
★ A gray-colored ring that changes color when Kizuna is detected. This can be used to tell whether the wearer is under the influence of Kizuna side effects. Green is mild, yellow is moderate, and red is severe.
★A non-magical item from home/previous game.
★An updated portable magi-tech communicator with high enough range to work outside cities for up to two hours.
★A potion that can heal even broken bones in minutes.
★Three sheets of Enchanted Fortune Paper. Write your name on it, and hand it to someone to read. If the paper turns pink in their hands, they have a crush on you. If it turns black, they're lying to you about something. If it turns into every color of the rainbow, they've had dirty thoughts about you.
★A cursed bag of potato chips that never gets empty. Why is this a curse, you ask? They're 300 calories per chip and delicious. They make good rations, at least.
★ A seemingly ordinary set of four kitchen knives, one of which causes whoever uses it to become sexually dominant for 24 hours.
★ A seemingly ordinary set of four soup spoons, one of which causes whoever uses it to become sexually submissive for 24 hours.

These items can only be received through monthly bonuses. You do not need to say which item you are choosing, unless you are choosing a plot hint or NPC thread.

★An opportunity to thread with an available NPC. Please have a subject in mind when choosing this option.
★A hint related to future areas or events. Other characters may receive the same hints.
★An ayakashi curses your character for a week, causing them to lose one sense of your choosing.
★A mysterious potion that changes the physical age of the person who drinks it. Whether they are mentally changed or not is up to you!
★A mysterious potion that changes the physical sex of the person who drinks it. How long the effects last is up to you, within reason!
★A music box capable of playing songs from a person's memories. It has a 1/5 chance of accidentally broadcasting their thoughts instead.
★A bouquet of dreambough flowers. If someone sleeps in the same room as these flowers, they'll share a dream with someone they've bonded with.

★A business license. You must redeem this before your character can open their own official business.
★An ayakashi curses your character for a week, resulting in one random effect.
★A Kizuna-powered shotgun. Because Kizuna is a limitless resource produced by your character through bonds, it will never run out of ammo. The color of the energy bullets fired change color based on the wielder's mood. Weapon type can be slightly customized upon request.
★A Kizuna-powered katana. Because Kizuna is a limitless resource produced by your character through bonds, it will never break or grow dull. The blade's color changes based on the wielder's mood. Weapon type can be slightly customized upon request.
★A pair of mysterious rings that are powered by Kizuna. Ask the ring where the other ring-wearer is, and a small light will emit from the embedded jewel, leading them to the other person's location. It will only work if the two wearers are in love.
★A wristwatch that can suppress 99.9% of mild Kizuna side effects. It cannot suppress moderate effects, and severe side effects will break the device and cause severe side effects to also manifest in anyone around them.

These items are customized for your character. You must reply with which item you are choosing so you can receive your reward!
★Sora elemental magic is unlocked for your character to start learning.

Let's get that unique player plot opportunity.
jikan_npc: (NRL Scientist (Shizuko))

[personal profile] jikan_npc 2021-02-01 06:47 am (UTC)(link)
While studying in the NRL's research library, a scientist pulls Setsura aside one day, and says she wants to show her something. She brings her to a special ward in a building next to the NRL, which is revealed to be a psychiatric hospital. "I noticed you during the last meeting. I think you'll be able to handle this. We can use all the help we can get."

She's brought to a medical large ward. It only takes a glance to tell that all of the patients were refugees, and nearly every single one appears completely catatonic, with some mumbling quietly to themselves. Occasionally, they break out into completely normal conversation with someone who isn't there, before returning catatonic. This behavior continues endlessly, as if only their mind is trapped in a time loop.

"It's a time affliction. They're diseases caused by time surges, and very rare. But we've never seen this one before. Not even people in Nippon ended up like this-- please... don't go public with it yet. We want to avoid causing any panic among the other refugees while they adjust to life here. But this ward is open to visitors. Perhaps if those afflicted see someone from home, they'll come out of it?"

Due to patient confidentially, she can't go into any further details about their condition, though she will imply they do know exactly what the cause is -- just not why. Should Setsura choose to ignore her request and speak about this publicly (such as over the network or to a news station), the NRL will refuse to work with her in the future. At least they'll still buy her food.

Setsura may invite as many people as she'd like to see the ward, with or without her. It seems she's not the only refugee they've asked for help. However, only three (as well as Setsura herself) will find someone they recognize as being from their world. The person they find must qualify as an auxiliary character. If one of the refugees touches the person they recognize as being from their own world, a Kizuna bond will form, and they'll be miraculously cured. However, they'll have no memory of what they've been doing up until now, and will only vaguely recall being pulled through a door in their own world. They will also not remember experiencing any time loops, and may become distressed if pushed to remember.

After a week of observation, they'll be allowed to leave and live like the rest of the refugees, and will be usable as ordinary auxiliary characters from that point on.

Additionally, if you or another player is planning to app an additional character, they may also be brought to the game in this way. Please let me know if you'd like to go with this option, as there are a few additional caveats!

This plot will not be mod-led, and you are free to get creative with what your character finds there. You do not need to use this plot right away, but keep in mind the setting may be used for a game-wide event in the future!
